Direct Booking – Booking Cancellation Policy 

Unexpected illness or injury can occur to any of us. We highly recommend that all of our clients purchase Travel Insurance for both domestic and international travel at the time of paying your deposit. We also suggest you check that your policy covers you for unexpected expenses that may arise, including from COVID-19

 

Booking Terms 

Payment of a trip deposit indicates acceptance of our cancellation policy and booking terms and conditions outlined on the Escape Adventures website. Deposits are non-refundable. 

Cancellation Policy
Cancellations to bookings

61 days or more

20% of the booking total price forfeited. 

31 – 60 days

30% of the booking total price forfeited. 

15 – 30 days

60% of the booking total is forfeited.

1 – 14 days

100% of the booking total is forfeited.

After trip start

No refund is available.

 

Amendments to bookings

An administration fee to cover additional admin time may apply.

Transfer of bookings may be possible to another tour within a 12 month period at the discretion of Escape Adventures.

 
Travel Insurance

Whether you are travelling from within New Zealand to cycle the trail or from overseas, Escape Adventures recommends you seek travel insurance for illness, accidents, or any other unforeseen circumstances. We suggest contacting your travel agent or insurance provider to arrange suitable cover. 

Force Majeure 

If Escape Adventures is prevented (directly or indirectly) from performing any of its obligations under this agreement by reason of act of God, strikes, trade disputes, fires, breakdowns, interruption of transport, transport, government or political action, acts of terrorism, acts or omissions of a third party or any other cause whatsoever outside Escape Adventures reasonable control, Escape Adventures will be under no liability to you and may, at its option, by written notice, either cancel the tour or arrange alternative tour arrangements. 

Jurisdiction

Your booking and all operations undertaken by Escape Adventures in New Zealand are governed by the laws of New Zealand. 

Liability 

In consideration of Escape Adventures accepting your booking, you; Release, waiver, discharge, hold harmless and agree to indemnify Escape Adventures and its officers, employees, agents, licensees, guides and other representatives and the land management authorities in New Zealand of all claims, actions and losses for bodily injury, property damage, wrongful death, loss of services, loss of profits, consequential, exemplary, indirect or punitive damages or otherwise which may arise out of or occur during your travel in connection with the tour or any activities connected in conjunction there within unless cause by the wilful negligence or wrongful act of Escape Adventures and its staff; and regardless of the situation or circumstances giving rise to the claim you waive any claims you have, or may at any time have, against Escape Adventures and its staff and you agree, by accepting the additional inherent dangers and risks associated with the tour, not to make any claim against or seek any compensation from Escape Adventures and its staff in respect of personal injury, illness or death suffered by you or damage to or loss of property sustained by you as a result of your participation in the tour. To the extent permitted by Law, all our liability for damages to your property, disruption to travel plans, or mental injury is excluded. This is subject to any rights you may have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 if booking in NZ. If sections of the Act do apply, Escape Adventures liability is limited to resupplying the services or paying the costs of resupplying the services, whichever is the lesser. 

WARNING: Under New Zealand law it is extremely unlikely that you will be able to sue anyone if you are injured and/or suffer disruption in your travel arrangements. Escape Adventures holds a current public liability insurance policy covering the operations of Escape Adventures 

Privacy 

The information supplied by you on the booking form will only be used by Escape Adventures. However, in the unlikely event of an accident, any special medical or personal information may be supplied to medical or emergency services personnel.
